I have wanted to read this book for a long time; it's one of my favorite movies. So the Back to the Classics challenge was just the push I needed to finally read it.
I enjoyed most of it, although I found it very slow going. There were parts through the middle of the book where I got bogged down, but overall it was a good story and well written.

I rated it 3 out of 5. I'm counting this for my Classic in Translation category.

I can't remember if I've read this, or only seen the movie. (Sad when your mind starts to go, isn't it?) It sounds like a book you're glad to have read, but not one you'd be in a hurry to read again.
I just finished my classic in translation choice: Camus' The Stranger. I didn't really like it. It was not a terribly interesting story, and the style of writing was simple and pared down, reminding me of Ernest Hemingway, who I don't especially like. It was quite short, though, so I didn't spend too much time reading it! I actually went to Good Reads to see what all the fuss was about. I found most of the reviews there to be complimentary, but it still just wasn't my cup of tea.
