Lucky

I've been wanting to do another drawing of my cat for awhile now, and I finally decided I needed to do it today. You see, he isn't doing well at all, and I'm afraid we're going to have to put him down sometime in the next week or two. He's 18 years old or so, and he seems to be shutting down. He was sleeping this morning and I got started on it then, and finished coloring it tonight. I know I didn't get the shape of the face quite right - but he had his head turned at a funny angle, so it's actually not too far off (even though it looks funny).

So sad to hear that your darling cat is nearing the end of his nine lives. 18 years is a long time. He looks so restful here so it will be a nice memory for the future.

Lost my Willy about a year ago and he was 18. It is the hardest thing to do but something we do to save them pain. I still miss him.

So sorry that Lucky is not doing too well. It is an awful thing when you realise that they are finally nearing the end. Another lovely drawing of him.

Hi, there! I have totally seen our cats in this "upside down head" position. I swear, they can make just about any position look comfortable! Enjoy your last days with Lucky! :-)

I think you've both been very lucky to have shared so many good years together. Lovely drawing- I've seen my cat in just that pose. :)

Hi Cheryl. I thought I'd let you know I am finally taking Sue Blweiss' journal making class. I am working on the first one right now. Forgot to buy the velcro and the "industrial strength" stuff my husband had isn't going to work. Maybe I'll just sew on a couple of buttons and wrap string around them like a figure 8. Remember kid's bank accounts when we'd have a money envelope to turn in at school with a quarter or a dollar in it that was tied up like that? (Maybe it's just my memory but you get the drift on the closure type don't you?). Anyhow, I just had to take it after seeing what you'd made - it just took me a while to do it. Thanks for sharing your journals so I could drool and end up with the class myself!

Very nice, C. Lucky is lucky to have you. You've captured him in your journal and heart forever.

Hi Cheryl, just catching up on hundreds of favourite blogs and trying to inspire myself to get mine up and running again. I'm so sorry to hear that Lucky is nearing the end of such a long and I'm sure, happy life with you. Lovely drawing of him, so nice for you to look back on. You'll have wonderful memories of him - and he has been a lucky cat to have such a loving home.
