Persuasion by Jane Austen
This is the second book by Jane Austen that I've read. Not quite as good as Pride and Prejudice, but enjoyable. This is "a love story tinged with the heartache of missed opportunities." Anne Elliot, at age 27, is unmarried. She had been engaged to Frederick Wentworth 8 years earlier, but her friend Lady Russell persuaded her to break off the engagement. All of Jane Austen's novels end "happily ever after," but getting there is always enjoyable. She had a real knack for writing about society and manners and what was really important. I rate this 3 out of 5.

This is too funny..DD and I just watched the BBC version of this book last weekend! I dare say, the movie was better then the book!
(I actually have seen two versions of this book now)
I love Jane Austen too. When I began reading her I was surprised at how funny I thought she was. Have you ever read Edith Wharton? I am reading The custom of the country and like it very much.
