Color as an Element of Design

As I've stated before, I'm taking a class on Composition and Design in Photography (just one more week to go). Last week, while we were in Colorado, our lesson was about color. So I took this picture of moss on rocks. I thought it was a pretty good picture.

But when I posted it, the instructor said that it would be better without the stick in the upper left corner. What? I didn't think the stick was distracting at all. But I cropped it to see, and guess what? She was right. Here it is again, with the stick cropped out. Better, huh?
